The 47th Annual Changing of the Colors Regatta took place from September 26-28 hosted by the Lake George Club. This year, the event was also the J/24 Great Lakes Championship, with the winner receiving a berth to the World Championship. The 28 teams in attendance enjoyed challenging, shifty conditions. Fleet #24 worked hard to make this a fun event. They found some giveaway goodies for each day from their sponsors, plus complimentary beer and food on Friday evening, as well as post-racing kegs all weekend from local Adirondack Brewery. Saturday was the infamous Regatta Dinner with live entertainment at the Lake George Club. Mike Stasko’s REDLINE team from Canandaigua Yacht Club started off the first day with a 2-1 to hold a commanding lead, then posting scores of 3-2-1-2 for 8 points net (tossing a third). After a modest 14th in his first race, Greg Eiffert’s BRAIN CRAMP TOO from Owasco Yacht Club rattled off a 4-6-1-4-1 tally for 16 points net. Rounding out the podium was Kirk Reynolds from Rochester, NY on TYRUS with 25 points net. The balance of the top five included the top local boat: Alfie Merchant’s WITCH WAY from the Lake George Club in fourth. Taking fifth was the top woman skipper and top women’s team: Lee Ann Zarestky’s LADY MINX. Complete results: https://www.regattanetwork.com/event/29260
