King’s Day was unseasonably warm with light breeze and strong currents at Florida Yacht Club in Jacksonville from November 18-19. Unfortunately, due to the lack of breeze, only two races were completed. King’s Day this year also served as the Southeast Regionals and District 8 Championship, meaning it held two berths for Worlds next year in Seattle. Paul Abdullah and his team Tarheel won the event with a pair of first place finishes, but Paul previously qualified. The qualifying place then goes to the next highest Southeastern boat which was second place finisher Daniel Borrer. There were three District 8 boats that travelled down to Jacksonville for the event. The top placed District 8 skipper was Amy Woodard from Charleston Offshore Racing Association.
