Biscayne Bay in Miami, FL delivered beautiful conditions for the 35 teams who traveled from as far as Seattle, WA for the J/24 Midwinter Championship. Under puffy white clouds, with temperatures in the 80s and winds between 6-10 knots, Will Welles’ Bogus jumped out to the initial advantage with scores of 2,1,1 for 4 points. Tony Parker helmed Bangor Packet to second place with 11 points, and John Poulson’s Long Shot is another four points behind in third. Natalie Harden’s Giggles got the Championship’s first bullet, shadowed by Welles and Mark Laura’s Baba Louie. Welles took the next two contests, ahead of Parker and Gilberto Rivera’s Urayo in race two, and Poulson and Parker in race three.
