Thanks to Nadia Daggett for this report: Davis Island’s J/24 2023 Rodeo is in the books! What a great weekend on the water. It was so good to see the whole District come together to bring more boats on the water last minute and to see new faces on the line. Saturday started with low pressure, which led to bull riding in the middle of the bay, and undefeated Taylor winning the ride @ 7.4 seconds. Then coming in for some pool time strategy discussions until finishing the night with two races before sunset. It was a great call from the PRO to move to an earlier first warning on Sunday, allowing for four more Sunday races. Honored to have our out-of-town teams: James Howard (Classic) from Lake Lanier, John Hirsch & Michael Anthony Beattie (DazeOff) from Jacksonville, Eammond (Main Squeeze) from Miami, Rick Jarchow Jr. & Jason Chavez (Sabatoge Strategy) from Ft. Lauderdale and John Skinner (WhiteHawk) from Melbourne, making a very competitive 11-boat fleet. Thank you so much for our PRO Ben Givens who had to make very tough calls, especially with light air and big wind shifts. Big shout out to an amazing Race Committee with Bob & Martha Bone, Deg’er Saner, Virginia Saxman and all the other supporters who wanted to be a part of this event (Leon, Antolin Rivera, Hill, Amanda Plewes, Fenn Giles, Jamey from PR,and so many more who pitched in as mark boats, photographers and more).

Top three:
#1 Classic – James Howard
#2 Sabatoge Strategy – Rick Jarchow & Jason Chavez
#3 Daze Off – John Hirsch & Michael Beattie
