As it has evolved over the course of the past few years, more sailors are discovering the fun time being had by those who have participated in Southern Bay Race Week. The event was hosted by Fishing Bay YC in Hampton, Virginia from May 29-31, and features one-design racing as well as PHRF handicap classes in both random-leg and around-the-buoys courses. The J/24 fleet was dominated by Ron Medlin’s BASH who won all but the last race. Winning the battle for second was Mike Veraldi’s QUICKY. After surviving a sixth race DSQ, they hung on to grab the silver by one point over Alan Bomar’s ROUNDABOUT.
