John Mollicone’s 11th Hour Racing and Peter Bream’s Team Tarheel are locked in a virtual tie on day 1 of the J/24 North American Championship in Jacksonville, FL. The teams duked it out all day, and each ended with 4 points over the two races. Mollicone kicked off the regatta with a win, followed by Bream and then Robby Brown’s USA 799. In the day’s other contest, Rossi Milev’s Clean Air claimed the top spot, with Bream in second and Mollicone in third. Milev currently stands in third overall with 9 points. Conditions in Jacksonville were cool and overcast, with winds starting at 6-8 knots and a slight chop before dying out for a while in the afternoon. The breeze then filled in for race 2 at 5-7 knots.
