The sailors with the best prescriptions survived the relatively windless distress of a difficult Ullman Sails Long Beach Race Week. The 35th version of the West’s largest keelboat regatta was staged by the neighboring Long Beach and Alamitos Bay Yacht Clubs, and despite the absence of the familiar whitecapped race courses and breeze below the usual level, the competition was lively. In the eight-boat J/24 fleet, Pat Toole’s 3 Big Dogs outlasted the competition to achieve victory with 13 points, including three bullets. Michael Johnson’s Pearl followed in second with 20 points, and Thomas Tunberg’s Bullet in third with 21 points. For complete results, visit http://files.lbrw.org/2014/LBRW_Overall.html.
