The beautiful venue of Sayville Yacht Club in Blue Point, NY did not disappoint as 10 teams battled for the District 3 Championship within view of the spectators on the club deck. Day one saw northerly breezes due to an approaching weather system which created opportunities to play the shifts and leverage position. Aidan Glackin and team Mental Floss sailing top three finishes with two bullets on the day led the field. Points were tight with three boats locked in third after five races. Quantum Sails Travis Odenbach provided a post race recap, and sail and rig tuning tutorial. The Saturday night “White Party” showcased the great venue and hospitality at Sayville YC with great food and dancing on the deck under the stars. Day two saw the more characteristic southerly sea breeze, and the competitive fleet saw four different winners on the day adding to the tight point spread. With a low score of 5 on the weekend, team Mental Floss proved most consistent and secured their fifth District 3 Championship.
