Report by Harry Dursch: Got in a total of eight races all on an Easterly that came and went throughout the weekend. This was their thermal that dominated the more prevalent and expected SWesterly that never showed. Stuart Archer and his son brought over Challenger for the event. We sailed well and had a commanding lead going into the last couple races. Going into the last race, Jeff Fisher, Jeff Bond, and Stuart were tied for 2nd-4th, and all three boats overlapped at the leeward mark. Jeff Bond went left, Manic (Fisher) followed, and Stuart went right. Left was the way to go, and Jeff Bond got second. A very fun event in a gorgeous location. We chartered a boat, saving our lazy selves the effort to take Self Abuse over and back. Think our edge was ability to maintain speed through maneuvers (at least most of the time) and good downwind VMG. Events like this remind me how fortunate we are to have such spectacular sailing venues in our District, and we would encourage more participation in future events.
