We are striving to establish a more fun and competitive traveling relationship in District 10 with the establishment of the Florida State Series. This is a series comprised of five regattas which are primarily already established, as well attended, traveling events with the addition of a couple of nice events to give everyone good opportunities to stay active through the season. There are five events of which your best three are scored for the final results. There are three events remaining this season so be sure to get them on your calendar now. The first two regattas were a big success. The Districts and Kings Day regattas in Melbourne and Jacksonville saw 15 or more boats on the starting line. We are looking to continue with those competitive numbers and grow to an even better attendance. The next event is the Green Bench Regatta in St Petersburg. It is scheduled for January 25-26. This is a rescheduling to accommodate maximum attendance by all of District 10 and should prove to support the growing interest in traveling to great events around the district. There are boat storage options available for anyone interested in staying for the St. Petersburg NOOD. The J/24 Class should really support the NOOD since at least three overall regatta winners have been named from the Class and two have gone on to win the championship regatta in the Virgin Islands. The two regattas in the series after Green Bench are the J/24 Rodeo at Davis Island and the Florida States in Miami. These are always great events so get them on your calendars now. We are excited that the Midwinters will be held in Miami this year. It will make a nice spring season to follow a great practice and warm-up regatta schedule at Green Bench and NOODs with a trip south to sunny Miami. See the following link for everything you need to know to get there and support this proven J/24 venue: click here for more information.
