Thank you to Fleet 24 for the following report: Thanks to all of the boats and crew that showed up to what turned out to be one of the top ten weekends in the Lake George area this year. We actually broke a record on Saturday with a high of 81 degrees. Friday was a nice easy start to the regatta with two tune-up races being completed. In light conditions, Saturday was a day hanging out at the “pool” and a solid 12 hours of social activities which left everyone a little groggy Sunday morning. Sunday looked to be a repeat of Saturday with the added twist of fog rolling over the water. While everyone was trying to open their eyes at an extended breakfast, the wind began to build from the South and before anyone could finish their coffee, the race committee fired off the warning signal and everyone was racing to their boats. The wind filled in and continued to build to a solid 10 knots, and the race committee did a phenomenal of getting four races on the board for the short day. It was a great group of sailors, many who have come for over 25 consecutive years. Next year, we expect to fill the 40 boats very quickly so sign up early. For all those who participated this year, we will send out an early registration email prior to opening it up to the general public. The official results have been posted (HERE). It was a great battle right to the end by the top three boats! Alfie Merchant’s Witch Way came out on top with 17 points. Robert Kraemer’s Xingu placed second (20 points), and Steve Jackson’s JAKO third (22 points). Thanks again and raise your glass to the best and still largest one design keelboat fleet in the world. See you next year!
