The J/24 Midwinter Championship at Eau Gallie Yacht Club in Indian Harbour Beach, FL delivered an exciting middle day with another three races. Winds averaged 15 knots with gusts in the low 20s, keeping the 33 teams busy, but smiling, under a cloudless sky. Mike Ingham’s Nautalytics shot up the standings, and now leads with 11 net points over six total races. Dropping a sixth from the first day, Ingham currently retains four seconds and a third. Tony Parker’s Bangor Packet held on to second place, now with 13 points. Kirk Reynolds’ Tyrus is clinging to the third position at 15 points, just one ahead of both Keith Whittemore’s Furio and John Mollicone’s Buckaroo/New England Ropes. Reynolds’ Tyrus started the day triumphantly, trailed by Ingham and Mollicone. Then it was Mollicone’s turn, with Ingham again second and Parker’s Bangor Packet getting in on the action. In the final battle of the day, Parker logged the bullet, as Mollicone and Ingham made it a full day in the top three. Racing concludes Sunday.
