Thanks to Joe Buonasera for this report: The J/24 District 3 Championship was held July 21-22. Ten boats competed at the Sayville Yacht Club, site of the 2020 J/24 North American Championship. Mother Nature gave the teams plenty of wind out of the east to contend with on day one. The wind ranged from 18-25 knots all day. At the end of the day on Saturday, everyone was expressing how much work it was to complete the races. Day two, Sunday, the competitors were greeted by southerly winds ranging from 15-20 knots, and they were able to complete another four races. At the end of the regatta, Aiden Glacken and the Mental Floss team finished on top of the podium. Second place went to Christopher Fischer and Pole Dancer, and third was Dan Cameron. The races were officiated by PRO Paul McMenamin, and the wonderful volunteers of the Sayville Yacht Club made the whole event a success. Please be on the look out in the coming months for the 2020 NAC NOR. For complete event details, visit https://yachtscoring.com/emenu.cfm?eID=5884.
