Thanks to Dave Noble…
Attention! Do you know these characters? Hint: they sail J/24s together. The one with the beard is US Class President Chip Till (you probably recognize him from Facebook), and the other is Dan Borrer. Dan has won the Peter Bream Winter Series Championship since the inception in 2015. PLEASE do not allow him to do it again. If he wins again, he may claim it is a dynasty and want the trophy permanently hung on Billy Ray’s barn wall. And we most likely will need to endure another series of selfies of Till. The Series is named after Dr. Peter Bream who was so inspirational to the J/24 class, especially within the southern states. He always had a prepared boat, dedicated crew and was always willing to share his knowledge and talent. This recognizes the amateur helm who does the cumulative best in the following three regattas: The Florida Yacht Club’s 2017 Kings Day Regatta, Miami’s 2018 Midwinter Championships and Columbia Yacht Club’s 2018 Easter Regatta. Just the three events, spanning five months in warmer weather than New England. There are plenty of teams who can take down Borrer, like Ron Medlin, Dan Busch, Steve Wood, Patricio Sly, James Howard and others who I am not sure are amateur or not. So please put your “A” game together and don’t let this become a dynasty (unless it is a start of your own), and spread the love that Peter Bream had for this sport.
