Thanks to Marcus Rogers for this report: The Sandusky Sailing Club hosted the District 12 Championship and made this a great event. Our PRO, Jay Austin, set a perfect course every race. The weather was perfect with great wind. There was a lot of chop, and the wind was shifty but constant with puffs up to 18. Most importantly, we had 12 boats show up for this event. We started the first race promptly at 10am, and it never took more than 5 minutes to set up the next race. Well executed and professionally done. A big shout out to Art and his race committee for making this such a great sailing event. On our first day of racing, we were able to get in four races. The course was a mile in length with two laps and a leeward finish. Every race was close, with all racers finishing within 6 minutes of each other. It was a very competitive day with Louie Palmer in Booyah (#3689) holding the lead with 14 points. On day two, we had no wind so we were not able to get in any races, meaning Louie Palmer wins the 2017 District 12 Championship. We would like to acknowledge Brett Langolf for chairing this event and to the Sandusky Sailing Club for hosting the event. For some great pictures, go to: https://goo.gl/photos/CTMmzQweUwnsEWFWA.
